about

The Korvids are a catholic Glasgow Collective, spearheaded by producer and Echo And The Bunnymen guitarist Gordy Goudie and Thomas Orrow. They marry a love of slo-mo disco with the influence of Deodato, Axelrod, CSNY, Bernard Hermann, Miles and anything else that takes their fancy. You may question how that geography and pedigree ties them into our new little label Real Balearic? Quite possibly... however check out the music first before drawing any conclusion. The Ibizian sound net is cast wide with this one.

For their second full release the pair serve up the truly Olympian "Phoebus On The Beach EP". It is a trio of compositions with mixes which ooze summertime, jazz and downtempo slackness. First up is the sax driven scene-setter "Ursula My Love". Smouldering trumpet, sleazy sax, lazy Rhodes overlaid on top of a laid back bass and slo-funk drum kit.

Next up is "Slouch". Think James Bond in Cuban Jazz Funk club 1976 to set the scene. Subtle voxbox vocals, sordid fuzz guitar lines and Clyde-Stubblefield-tired-at-5am drums complete the picture.

The EP then takes a downtempo detour featuring stripped back versions of both tracks for those more chilled moments.

To round of the EP we also feature the Sun-drenched proto-classic "Beach Coma". When it comes to Ibiza and Summertime and remixes you may as well aim for the top of the tree. Cafe Del Mar resident and creator of the famous Cafe Del Mar series of compilation CDs Jose Padilla steps up to the plate for his Balearic sundown re-rub. Jose focuses in on the pads and guitars and covers all beach party angles.
